The Pufferfish isn’t just another pretty fish. Its ability to take in water and quickly grow to several times its normal size is a necessary defense mechanism, allowing the slow-moving and awkward swimmer to scare off predators instead of attempting to flee.

They were the ocean equivalent of crop circles, and their genesis was just as mysterious. It turns out that the culprit, or creator, was a brand new species of pufferfish, the white-spotted pufferfish!
