A must-have for a collection? Maybe not. But, I'm glad we made this purchase. It is stunning to look at and to listen to! My daughter is only 19 months so we have to keep her supervised with the small marbles, but she enjoys it and I think it will be fun to grow with us (I'm excited to incorporate into ball runs somehow). The quality is superb. I struggled deciding on size but I think medium is perfect for us. Weird--and I don't fault FPT for this-- but I wish it came with prettier colored marbles (they are standard marbles-- not wood-- in black, blue, boldish shades-- it comes with 6 marbles).
